MusiCare's
Responsibility Based Maintenance Plan:
  1. In order to offer instruments to students and have the instruments facilitate the educational experience the school's Musical Instrument Inventory must be in good repair. This provides a base to refer to in the case accidental damage or vandalism occurs.
  2. Prepare a document such as a "Receipt and Bond" to allow students to be bonded return instruments in the same physical condition as check out, with exception of "Fair Wear and Tear" covered by a maintenance fee.
  3. Check-in and evaluate all instruments at the end of each season, to allow students to take responsibility  for any damage beyond "Fair Wear and Tear" that they may have caused..
  4. Maintain and return all Instruments to good repair, so that they are ready for the next season.

  • MusiCare Responsibility Based Maintenance Tracker
This is a demo for an extremely useful Windows database, set up to track the maintenance of musical instruments.  It can also track who the instrument is checked out to, the original purchase price and date, and all repair work that has been done to the instrument. It can store images of the instruments as well, to give a student a before picture to compare with the instrument when it is returned. It can also be used to track uniforms, music, etc.

The demo version is fully functional and can be registered for only $49.95

  • The International Society for the
    Preservation and Protection of
    Quality Musical Instruments

At MusiCare we witness on a daily basis the benefits derived from instilling a sense of responsibility in student musicians about their musical instruments, and unfortunately we also witness the opposite when they do not feel the sense of responsibility. To recognize those students who are responsible with their instrument and who "Take Care! and Take Pride!" we are offering this "cool" T-Shirt:
